some text"Women like me don’t have a life. We choose clothes and go to clubs and do an occasional good deed. But, really, we’re just the prey of the paparazzi."

Lady Mary Josephine Crawley. Eldest daughter to Lord Robert and Lady Cora Crawley - owners of the famous Downton Hotel in the West End - and sister to Edith and Sybil Crawley.

She's by far the most precious of the Crawley Sisters. Everybody knows about her and her passion for fashion. Although occasionally she does enjoy a good book and a cup of Fortnum & Mason tea, as hard as that may be to believe. It's something typically British.

If you want to meet her, please try to make an appointment with Anna, her PA, first. As you may have already noticed, she's dreadfully busy trying on dresses and seducing Manchester lawyers.

But, in the meantime, welcome to the Downton Hotel!

The Perfect Dress ll Anna and Mary

Officially this would be only their second date, this realization hit Mary like a ton of bricks, making her even more nervous. Of course she didn’t have to be perfect, it was only a few days ago had Matthew shown up at her door unexpectedly, he had spent the day with her, despite her rushed appearance. The thing was she wanted to look perfect for him.

There she stood, staring at all the clothes in her large closet with the overwhelming feeling none of it was what she wanted to be wearing when he picked her up that night.

Are you busy right now? I could use some help finding something to wear tonight. She typed the message quickly on her phone, hoping Anna wasn’t too busy right now.

One Day ‖ Mary and Matthew

mr-matthew-crawley:

the-eldest-daughter:

It had been the perfect day, she wanted so badly for it to last forever. She could see them living in their own perfect world forever, wrapped up in one another, but she knew it would have to end sometime, they would have to go back to real life. “Don’t remind me that it will have to end, let’s talk about something else.”

She was quiet for another moment as she had another bite of omelet, “maybe like how you became such a good cook.”

“Necessity,” he said, smiling. “Survival of the fittest.” Just as he spoke those words, however, he realized what the rather humorous innuendo was. “Fittest as in most well-cooked, of course.” He laughed lightly as he added some vegetables to her plate.

“And you, Lady Mary?” he ventured to enquire. “Do you cook or are you only cooked for?” He would have almost added a third option, whether she herself had been cooked, but that would have been too much. Too cruel of a joke, and he innerly cursed himself for even thinking of it.

Matthew often saw the sadness in her eyes, the feeling that she couldn’t escape from this single fate that was pre-destined for her. To be the prey of the paparazzi, the prey of those horrible harbingers of scandal, that she had only been raised for the slaughter, so to speak. Carefully, he placed his hand over hers, simply because he could.

She wanted desperatly to make her life seem less ridiculous, substantial in some way but she had to be honest. “I don’t cook much, I basically only know how to make make eggs, toast, and tea.” She would have embarssed by her lack of skills when she realized what he may have meant. “Do you mean to tell me your mother isn’t much of a cook?” She said with a smile.

Thanks! :) I’m still thinking about a starter, although I don’t really know what to write now. :P Would you like a Downton Abbey or a Downton Hotel para?

It doesn’t matter to me, I like either.

Lunch for Two || Sybil and Mary

itsladysybil:

Taken aback, Sybil could only watch her sister through suspicious eyes.

“Like what?” she asked cautiously.

If it was up to Mary, the two of them would probably get pissed and then the papz would take loads of pictures that would end up splashed all over magazine covers.

“What have you got in mind, Mary?”

“I didn’t have anything particular in mind, but haven’t you ever just wanted to get away?”

Mary wanted to get away. She was feeling trapped and was tired of the charade of happiness with Richard and being happy for Matthew and Lavina. She wanted some fresh air and a change of scene.

“I just want to take off and get out of this city without any real plans, let’s just go.”

Sybil smiled. She had felt that many times, which was way she chose the lifestyle she did by doing all her charities.

“Mary, as I do charities all around the world,” Sybil said with a smile, “you ought to know I have that feeling. I hate feeling trapped, I hate living in our world. We have people scrutinizing our every step, always there when when of us missteps. I hate it, Mary.”

Of course Sybil had a way out, she had her charities. She had an escape, but Mary felt she did not.

“Lately I have felt like I have been living this way for too long- like I always have to calculate my moves so that nobody gets hurt or embarassed. I want to just be me for a little while.”

Lunch for Two || Sybil and Mary

itsladysybil:

Sybil could tell, from the past few months of having seen Mary and Richard together, how much she disliked him. But it wasn’t Sybil’s duty to get in between them and stop the madness before it could begin. That was for Mary to do.

“You could always say you feel ill,” Sybil suggested half-heartedly.

It was something that Sybil always used when she didn’t want to go somewhere and it usually always worked.

“Oh you know me, I will probably end up going, I was never much for faking ill.”

Mary looked around the room, suddenly it felt small and she felt restless. They had been talking circles around the same subjects. Mary was tired of being selfless and accepting Richard and avoiding Matthew. She was tired of prentending it was better this way. If she talked about it any longer she felt she would break.

“Let’s get out of here Sybil, let’s go do something else.”

Taken aback, Sybil could only watch her sister through suspicious eyes.

“Like what?” she asked cautiously.

Sybil smiled then asked, “So you’re going with Richard? I can’t imagine that will be too much fun. But then, I don’t particularly like him. No offense, of course, Mary,” she added quickly.

She hadn’t intended to tell Mary of her dislike of Richard, but somehow, it slipped out. She felt her face turn crimson and began stuttering out apologies.

“I am sorry, Mary,” she said, when she was finally able to pronounce a full sentence. “I don’t know where that came from.”

“I can’t imagine it being much fun either.” Mary said sadly. Sybil liked everyone, if she disliked Richard it was truly a testament of his unpopularity.

“Don’t worry about it, I am glad to know your opinions.” She wished she could more openly discuss her feeling’s about Richard with Sybil, but she couldn’t bring herself to voice them out loud. “To be honest though, I’m trying to find a way not to go.”
